The popularity of Korean pop music is not limited to Korea and Asia any more. Recently, it has taken aim at the whole world. There are countless fans around the globe. Major talent agencies are scouting talented starts who can appeal to audiences on the international stage. That’s why more and more boy and girl groups include foreign members or multilingual members. There are even groups aimed at specific regions or countries. Some groups place a greater emphasis on overseas activities than on the domestic market. Korean pop music is especially popular in the Chinese, Japanese, and Southeast Asian markets. Large entertainment agencies are staging concerts that are sold out not only in Asia but in Europe, Australia, and North America as well.

한국 대중가요의 인기는 더 이상 한국과 아시아권에만 국한되어 있지 않다. 최근에는 전 세계를 겨냥하고 있다 전 세계적으로 수많은 팬들이 있다. 대형 연예 기획사들은 이제 국제 무대에서 호응을 얻을 수 있는 재능 있는 스타들을 발굴하고 있다. 그래서 아이돌 그룹에 외국인 혹은 여러 언어를 구사할 수 있는 멤버들이 점점 더 많이 포함되고 있다. 심지어 특정 지역이나 국가를 겨냥한 그룹들도 생겨나고 있다. 국내보다 아예 외국에서 더 활동을 많이 하는 그룹들도 있다. 물론 한국 가요는 특히 중국과 일본, 동남아 시장에서 특히 인기가 높다. 대형 연예 기획사들은 아시아권뿐만 아니라, 유럽, 호주, 북미권 등지에서 큰 흥행을 거두는 콘서트를 무대에 올리고 있다.
