The number of people who use rideshare taxis around the world is very high. The number of users in Korea is rising steadily as well. A user’s personal information is stored in a smartphone app. Users can also pay the cab fare using a registered credit card, so it’s very convenient. In particular, it makes it easy to call a taxi in places where cabs are not readily available. What’s more, the services can also be used in other countries, so they come in handy when traveling abroad. The problem is that some rideshare taxi services can go against Korean transportation laws, so they are controversial. However, rideshare apps are being accepted worldwide, so they can’t be banned outright.

자가용 택시를 이용하는 사람들은 전 세계적으로 엄청나게 많다. 한국에서도 그 이용객의 숫자가 꾸준히 늘어나고 있다. 스마트폰 앱에 본인의 개인 정보가 다 저장되어 있고, 택시 이용 요금도 등록된 카드로 결제하기 때문에 이용하기가 매우 편리하다. 특히, 택시가 잘 안 잡히는 지역에서 택시를 부르기 용이하다. 더불어, 다른 나라에서도 이용이 가능하기 때문에, 해외여행 중에도 매우 편리하다. 문제는 일부 자가용 택시 서비스가 국내 운수업 관련 법에 배치될 수 있다는 점으로, 그 부분에 대한 논란이 있다. 그러나 전 세계적으로 용인되는 추세여서 자가용 택시 서비스를 아예 금지시키기도 쉽지는 않다.
