Talk about a time when you had to reschedule appointments.
We make appointments for many reasons in life. Reservations for dental clinics, hospitals and hair salons can be counted among the most common. A while ago, I made a reservation to get my hair done at a salon. I reserved a Saturday morning time slot, but it slipped my mind because I was a bit scatterbrained that day. When I received a phone call from the salon, it was well past the reserved time. It was too late to go at that point, so I rescheduled for another time. On another occasion, I reserved a routine check-up for my mother at a university hospital. However, something important came up on the day of. I called the hospital and tried to reschedule, but they were fully booked for that day. We had no choice but to choose a different day.

살아가면서 이런저런 예약을 하게 된다. 치과, 병원, 그리고 미용실 예약을 가장 흔하게 하는 것 같다. 지난번에 머리를 하기 위해 미용실에 예약을 했다. 토요일 오전으로 예약을 해 놓았는데, 그날 정신 없는 일들이 많아서, 깜박 잊어버리고 있었다. 예약 시간이 지나고 나서야 미용실에서 전화를 받았다. 그때 가기에는 이미 예약 시간이 한참 지나 버려서, 예약 시간을 다시 잡았다. 한번은 대학 병원에 어머니를 모시고 가서 정기 검사를 받으려고 진료 예약을 했다. 그런데, 예약 당일에 중요한 일이 생겼다. 병원에 전화해서 예약을 다시 하려고 하는데, 이미 그날은 예약이 다 끝난 상황이었다. 어쩔 수 없이 다른 날을 택할 수밖에 없었다.
