Abalone is a shellfish that you can eat and that has a shiny substance called mother-of-pearl inside its shell.
There are a lot of different types, too. You can have porridge with ingredients like abalone, shrimp, chicken, or seafood, depending on your taste.
My favorite is abalone rice porridge.
At these restaurants, you first choose the type of fish you want. The price varies wildly depending on what fish you choose. Then, there are a lot of appetizers that come out first. There’s a lot of fresh seafood. Sea squirts, sea cucumbers, sea urchins and abalone are very common. My favorite is sea urchin roe.
Abalone is on the pricey side, but I like it enough to eat it on occasion.
