A label is a piece of paper or plastic that is attached to an object in order to give information about it.
If you say that someone gets a particular label, you mean that people show disapproval of them by describing them with a critical word or phrase.
If something is labeled, a label is attached to it giving information about it.
If you say that someone or something is labeled as a particular thing, you mean that people generally describe them that way and you think that this is unfair.
Dermatologists label my skin type as combination as opposed to dry or oily. It's a nightmare. I break out in the t-zone but can't use harsh acne medication because it will result in dry, flaky skin.
