Last Friday afternoon, it began to rain cats and dogs. Outside the window, the cars in the road were jammed up. I predicted in advance that there would be heavy traffic on my way home. The road in front of my office building was badly congested. They couldn’t budge an inch. I turned on the radio and took it easy while I went home. Under normal conditions, it only takes 40 minutes, but that day it took twice as long. I was worn out by the time I got home. Another time, I was traveling with my family. Not long after we merged onto the highway, the cars were at a crawl. Inching forward, we saw that there was a major accident. The accident was the root of the traffic jam in the surrounding areas. Passing the site of the accident, I resolved to be a safe driver.

지난주에 금요일 오후부터 폭우가 내리기 시작했다. 창밖을 내다보니, 도로에 차들이 꽉 차 있었다. 귀갓길이 많이 막힐 것으로 예상했다. 회사 건물 앞 도로변이 크게 막혀 있었다. 도무지 차들이 움직이지를 않았다. 라디오를 틀어 놓고 그냥 마음을 여유 있게 먹고 집에 왔다. 보통, 40분 정도 걸려야 하는 퇴근길이 두 배는 넘게 걸렸다. 집에 도착했을 때 매우 피곤했다. 또 한번은 가족들과 여행을 가고 있었다. 고속도로에 진입한 지 얼마 되지 않아서, 차들이 전부 기어가다시피 하고 있었다. 서행을 계속 하다가, 앞에 큰 사고가 난 것을 목격했다. 그 사고 여파로 그 근처 교통이 엄청나게 막혔던 것이다. 사고 현장을 지나치며, 안전 운전을 해야겠다는 다짐을 했다.
