Talk about denuclearization efforts on the Korean peninsula.
Winds of change have been blowing through the Korean peninsula. Peace and reconciliation are front and center. Just last year, tensions were reaching the breaking point as the North repeatedly conducted nuclear tests and missile tests. But a mood of mutual good will emerged when Pyongyang participated in the PyeongChang Olympics early in the year. The two Koreas exchanged teams of high-ranking envoys and set the stage for discussions. In addition, related nations have been engaging in dialogue for the denuclearization on the Korean peninsula. The fruits of their labor include the summit meetings among nations involved. I hope that these diplomatic efforts will play a role in bringing permanent peace to the Korean peninsula.
한반도 비핵화 노력에 대해 이야기해 주세요.
한반도에 평화와 화해가 강조되는 변화의 바람이 불고 있다. 작년만 해도 북한의 연이은 핵 실험과 미사일 실험으로 인해서 긴장이 최고조에 이르렀다. 그러나 올해 초에 평창 동계 올림픽에 북한이 출전하면서 상호 선의의 분위기가 생겼고, 남북한 양측이 고위급 특사단을 교환하면서 대화의 계기가 마련되었다. 또한 한반도 비핵화라는 목표를 위해 관계국들이 대화에 임하고 있다. 노력의 결실 중 하나는 당사국들 간 정상 회담이다. 이러한 외교적 노력들이 한반도에 항구적 평화를 불러오는 데 기여하기를 기대한다.
