When people catch a cold or the flu, they often cough. Colds are highly contagious, and are often transmitted to others via coughing. That’s why you should make it a point to wear a mask when you head out with a cold. It’s good manners to cough into your sleeve. Some people cough openly in the subway or bus, but that is a big no-no. Some people cover their mouth with their hands when they cough. However, this is not good enough. It’s best to mind one’s manners when coughing.

감기나 독감에 걸리면 기침을 하는 경우가 많다. 감기는 전염성이 강해서 기침을 통해 다른 사람들에게 옮기는 경우가 많다. 그래서 감기가 걸린 상태에서 외출을 할 때는 반드시 마스크를 착용하는 것이 좋다. 기침을 할 때는 소매로 막고 하는 것이 예의다. 지하철이나 버스에서 가리지 않고 기침하는 사람들이 있는데, 그것은 절대로 하면 안 되는 행동이다. 손으로 입을 막고 기침을 하는 사람들도 종종 볼 수 있다. 하지만 그렇게 하는 것만으로는 부족하다. 기침을 할 때는 기본적인 예의를 지키는 것이 좋다.
