[영어 회화] She came down with a bad cold.

 

(Kathie is talking to her friend Sally on the telephone.)
Kathie: Sally I'm so sorry but I can't come to your party tonight.
Sally: I know. What happened?
Kathie: Something came up.
Sally: What happened?
Kathie: My daughter got sick. She came down with a bad cold.
Sally: Oh I'm sorry to hear that.
Kathie: I'm sure she'll be up and about in a couple of days.
Sally: Make sure she drinks a lot of liquids.
Kathie: She's doing that.
Sally: Good. Well, I'm sorry you'll miss the party tonight.

캐시: 샐리 어젯밤 네 파티에 못 가서 너무 미안해.
샐리: 그래. 무슨 일 있었어?
캐시: 갑자기 일이 생겼잖아.
샐리: 무슨 일인데?
캐시: 딸이 아팠어. 감기가 심하게 걸려서.
샐리: 아 저런. 힘들었겠다.
캐시: 이틀 정도면 다 나을 거야.
샐리: 꼭 물을 많이 마시게 해.
캐시: 그러고 있어.
샐리: 잘 했네. 오늘밤 파티에도 못 오게 돼서 섭섭하다.
