Talk about why you study English.
I have kept at it with my English studies since I was a student. In school, English was a regular curriculum subject. I studied hard to keep my grades up. The main goal was to get high marks in English tests. In college, I had to prepare for English speaking tests when I went job hunting. For most companies these days, English speaking grades are not a matter of choice, so I had to prepare. It was no cakewalk, preparing for a speaking test for the first time in my life. These days, I don’t study English for the sole purpose of taking tests. I also study to take care of business matters and to travel overseas. Also, I wouldn’t say no to speaking fluidly about pressing current affairs.

자신이 영어 공부를 하는 이유에 대해 이야기해 주세요.
나는 학창 시절부터 꾸준히 영어 공부를 해 왔다. 학교 다닐 때는 영어가 정규 과목이었다. 그래서 학업 성적을 유지하기 위해서 영어 공부를 열심히 했다. 주로 영어 시험에서 더 좋은 점수를 받는 것이 공부의 주 목적이었다. 대학교에 가서는 취업 준비를 하면서, 영어 말하기 시험에 대한 대비를 해야 했다. 요즘 대부분의 기업들이 영어 말하기 평가 등급을 요구하는 시대여서, 대비를 해야 했다. 생전 잘 안 하던 영어 말하기 시험 공부는 결코 쉽지 않았다. 물론 지금은 시험을 위해서만 영어 공부를 하고 있지는 않다. 직장 업무나 해외 여행 등의 목적을 위해서도 영어 말하기 공부를 꾸준히 하고 있다. 주요 시사 현안에 대해서도 영어로 내 의견을 매끄럽게 말하고 싶은 욕심이 있다.
