My older sneakers were getting threadbare, so it was high time to replace them. I went to the department store to window-shop for shoes. I visited a few shops and found a pair that fit the bill. However, the store didn’t have them in my size, so I couldn’t buy them on the spot. Another time, I really liked a pair of boots my friend had gotten, so I made up my mind to buy the same ones. However, when I went to the store, they were sold out, It was such a popular item that they were out of stock. Instead, I went online to search for the boots on the Internet. I found that I could buy them online, and placed an order right away. I even saved a bundle compared to the store’s price. Finally, I once wanted to see a movie, but it was so popular that there were no tickets that night. I had to buy tickets for a late-night showing.

신던 운동화가 낡아서 새로 살 때가 되었다. 운동화를 구경하러 백화점에 갔다. 몇 군데 매장을 둘러보고, 적합한 신발을 찾았다. 그런데 나에게 맞는 치수가 없어서 곧장 살 수가 없었다. 또 한번은 친구가 새로 산 부츠가 너무 예뻐서 나도 같은 제품을 사기로 마음먹었다. 하지만 매장에 가 봤더니 품절이었다. 워낙 인기 상품이어서 남은 물건이 없었던 것이다. 대신 인터넷에서 부츠를 찾아보려고 검색을 해 보았다. 온라인에서 구매가 가능한 것을 발견하고, 곧장 주문을 했다. 가격도 매장 가격보다 더 저렴하게 살 수 있었다. 마지막으로 언젠가 보고 싶던 영화가 있었는데, 워낙 인기 있는 영화여서 당일 저녁 시간 표가 전부 매진이었다. 하는 수 없이 심야 시간 표를 끊어서 보았다.
