[영어 회화] I want her to see that I'm using it.

 

(Judy and her sister Roberta are getting ready to visit their aunt for her birthday … )
Judy : (looking out the window) Oh no it's raining.
Roberta: We should get going if we have to drive in this rain.
Judy: Where's my red umbrella?
Roberta: Here let's take my umbrella.
Judy: No I need my umbrella.
Roberta: What's the difference? An umbrella is an umbrella.
Judy: Aunt Rose gave me this red umbrella for my birthday. I want her to see that I'm using it.
Roberta: Should we take my car?
Judy: Yes, please. I can't handle driving in the rain.
Roberta: We should go now if we want to beat traffic.

 

(주디와 동생 로버타가 이모의 생신을 맞아 이모를 방문할 준비를 하고 있다 ….)
주디 : (창문 밖을 보며) 어머 이런 비가 오네.
로버타 : 이 비 속을 운전하고 가려면 서둘러야겠어.
주디 : 내 빨간 우산 어디 있지?
로버타 : 여기 내 우산을 가져가자.
주디 : 아냐 난 내 우산이 필요해.
로버타 : 무슨 차이가 있어서? 우산이 다 똑같은 거지 뭐.
주디 : 로즈 이모가 내 생일에 이 우산을 선물로 주셨단말야. 내가 잘 쓰고 있다는 걸 보셔야 해.
로버타 : 내 차로 갈까?
주디 : 그래 그러자. 난 비 속 운전은 자신이 없어.
로버타 : 길이 막히기 전에 가려면 우리 지금 나가야 돼.
