Talk about the infringement of teachers’ rights.
Many regulations and rules are being enacted these days that emphasize student rights. These changes are helping to protect students’ human rights and give a boost to creativity. However, infringement of teachers’ rights is a side effect on the flip side of the development. When students muddy the waters during class and get in the way of other students’ right to learn, teachers lack the means to effectively stop them. Since student rights are the top priority, penalties and follow-up measures are falling by the wayside. Teachers sometimes are at a disadvantage even when they discipline or educate students properly because they stand accused of trampling on students’ rights. Our schools are in desperate need of ways to deal with students who disrupt others or disrespect their teachers. Giving students a free pass is certainly not the same as respecting their rights.

요즘은 학생 인권을 중요시하여 여러 조례나 교칙 등이 제정되고 있다. 이러한 변화들이 학생들의 인권 보고와 창의성 신장에 도움이 되고 있다. 그러나 그 이면에는 교권 침해라는 부작용도 존재한다. 일선 r실 현장에서는 일부 학생들이 수업 분위기를 망치고 다른 학생들의 수업권을 방해하는 경우에도 교사가 이를 효과적으로 막을 방법이 없다. 학생의 인권이 가장 우선시되어, 처벌이나 사후 관리가 제대로 되고 있지 않다. 심지어 교사가 올바르게 학생들을 훈육하거나 지도할 때도 학생 인권을 무시했다는 이유로 오히려 교사가 피해를 보는 사례를 종종 접할 수 있다. 지금 우리 학교에는 다른 학생들에게 피해를 주거나 교사에게 무례하게 행동하는 학생들에 대한 적절한 조치가 시급하다. 무슨 행동을 해도 학생이라고 봐주는 게 학생 인권 존중은 아닌 것이 분명하다.
