Displaced Animals in Australia
The wildfires of late 2019 in Australia displaced close to one billion animals and killed countless others. Even now, efforts are being made to help them. One project that was launched in the early days of the tragedy was the knitting and sewing of pouches for marsupials.

Brendan: Did you see that heartbreaking video of all the koalas in Australia who got burned during the fires during their summer?
Megan: It was terrible, but I was inspired by the people from all walks of life who rescued animals.
Brendan: Some of my friends want to help, so I sent them information about knitting or sewing pouches for the young marsupials who are orphans now.
Megan: How many pouches have they collected so far?
Brendan: Tens of thousands, but there are more animals that need help.
Megan: At least they had some heavy rains to keep the fires at bay and spare other animals from suffering.
