[영어 회화] What do you make of it?

 

(Two policemen are standing outside a house at a crime scene…)
Policeman 1: Look at this area of the window. What do you make of it?
Policeman 2: It looks like someone was trying to break in.
Policeman 1: And look here. A cigarette butt.
Policeman 2: Ask if anyone smokes in the family.
Policeman 1: My feeling is this was done by someone who didn't know the family.
Policeman 2: A stranger?
Policeman 1: Yeah. Someone who just wanted to rob the place.
Policeman 2: Sounds right. Make sure you tag everything.
Policeman 1: All right.
Policeman 2: And put your plastic gloves on.

(경찰 2명이 범죄 현장에서 집 밖에 서서…)
경찰1: 여기 창 쪽 좀 봐. 어떻게 생각해?
경찰2: 누군가 창문을 부수고 들어가려 했던 것 같은데.
경찰1: 그리고 여기 봐. 담배 꽁초야.
경찰2: 이 집 사람들 중에 담배 피는 사람 있는지 물어봐.
경찰1: 내 느낌엔 이 집 사람들을 모르는 사람이 한 짓 같아.
경찰2: 면식범이 아니다?
경찰1: 그래. 누군가 그냥 집을 털려고 했던 것 같아.
경찰2: 그런 것 같다. 물표 꼭 다 붙여.
경찰1: 알았어.
경찰2: 비닐 장갑 끼고.
