Koreans are fond of singing when they gather with their friends. Whereas house parties are popular in some countries, people in Korea tend to meet away from home. They like to go to what’s called a noraebang to sing together. A noraebang is a singing venue where private rooms are available for rent. People often go there after drinking at social get-togethers or office dinners. Singing to your heart’s content is a great way to use energy. It’s not uncommon for even people who are usually shy to really get into a song. Most Korean people have a pet song that they love to sing. Once again, singing is a universal pastime in Korea.
